Work in progress

Using a method from a paper normally means finding the repository, guessing which script matters, installing it in your environment, and hoping your reimplementation matches what the authors intend. ajournal removes everything between you and the contribution: the paper itself becomes callable as an agent.

How it works

Every work in the catalogue is addressable as an agent. You connect ajournal to your personal AI Agent once and from then on it can search the works, pick the relevant ones, and call them. Where the work contributed runnable code, you hand the agent your data and it runs the authors’ own implementation, not a reimplementation of it.

Nothing needs to be cloned and nothing needs to be installed. Because the call goes through the registry rather than through a copy on your laptop, the work that was actually used is known at the moment of use, making it possible to prove correct application of the method and track use of contributions. Every result carries its paper’s citation and the resolved package versions.

What a paper can do for you

Not every paper yields the same thing, so not every agent can do the same thing. The rung says what you actually get:

stub
can be cited, but we cannot read it
read
answers from the paper's own text
skill
answers, and holds you to the paper's procedure
package
can call the library this paper contributed
server
exposes the paper's full tool surface

Where we stand today

The catalogue holds 37 works. This represents not a redistribution but a live snapshot of the literature we use to develop the platform.

  • stub8
  • read7
  • skill1
  • package0
  • server21

A work sits on the lowest rung when it is closed access only. The distribution is a measurement of how much of the literature an AI Agent can actually access today.

The works that run code today are served from one process we operate, split by method. Per-work isolation, so that each paper’s code runs in a container of its own and one paper can reuse another’s implementation instead of duplicating it, is on the roadmap.
